Construction & Demolition Recycling
SKB Environmental is at the forefront of tackling PFAS contamination with our innovative solutions. In 2024, we installed a full-scale PFAS pre-treatment system at the SKB Rosemount landfill, marking a significant milestone as the first of its kind in Minnesota and the Nation. Modern lined landfills are part of the solution to responsibly managing PFAS containing waste streams.
With the addition of this state-of-the-art system designed to efficiently remove PFAS from landfill leachate, SKB intends to be the industry leader in the safe and responsible management of PFAS wastes.
Recycling with SKB
SKB believes wholeheartedly in the recycling and processing of waste. SKB Recycling’s system allows for the efficient, economical recovery of numerous resources and diverting valuable materials from the waste stream saves precious landfill airspace and reduces the need for virgin resources.
Materials such as corrugated cardboard, concrete, brick, vinyl siding, ferrous and non-ferrous metals are separated from the waste stream and recycled. Shingle waste is processed and ground for use as recycled material in asphalt road projects. Separated wood is either recycled or used as a biomass fuel product. All residual waste is disposed of in an environmentally acceptable manner.
See the information on this page to find out more about the materials we recycle.
C&D Recycling Facilities
SKB Recycling’s Integrated C&D Recycling System is unique in that we have multiple facilities conveniently located in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, which offers our customers the ability to efficiently route their loads—reducing transportation time, fuel costs, and greenhouse gas emissions. Loads delivered to the facilities in SKB's integrated C&D Recycling system meet the requirements for the United States Green Building Council's -(USGBC) LEED Program certification, Minnesota's Sustainable Building Guidelines (B3), and other Green Building programs.
SKB has been integrally involved in the development of regulations and best management practices that ensure that the recycling, processing, and end use of this waste stream is done in an environmentally responsible manner - thus ensuring the stable long-term viability of C&D recycling.
